The Northfield Township Food Pantry was started close to 50 years ago to assist Township residents who are unable to provide enough food for themselves and their families.

In April 2003, the Pantry became a 501c3 organization and an agency of the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Today, many hundreds of Township families are eligible to visit the Pantry to receive perishable and non-perishable food items and grocery store cards.

No tax dollars are used to supply the Pantry. The Pantry is sustained entirely by residents, civic organizations, schools, businesses and the faith community who generously donate food items, grocery store cards and cash.

Representatives and volunteers from the Glenbrook CROP Hunger Walk present checks to three area hunger relief agencies, including the Northfield Township Food Pantry.

Volunteer opportunities are available for individuals, groups and families. Children under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Volunteer duties include but are not limited to sorting food donations, stocking Pantry shelves, repackaging bulk food items and picking up food donations from area grocery stores and businesses (a volunteer driver must have a valid driver’s license and own their car).

Every volunteer must complete a waiver form. You can download the waiver forms from the links to the right.

If you are interested in volunteering, or have a group that is interested, please use the Volunteer Signup Form or call our Pantry Coordinator at 847-724-8300.
