Human Services Funding

Northfield Township’s Human Services Funding program provides direct financial support to a wide range of not-for-profit social service organizations which serve Township residents. The Human Services Review Commission (HSRC), composed of a team of volunteer community members, oversees the evaluation process and makes funding recommendations to the Northfield Township Board of Trustees. After recommendations are presented, the Township Board awards financial support to essential human service programs.

These social service organizations provide specialized professional services for families, youths, seniors, and residents with disabilities and mental health challenges. The assistance these programs provide to residents is crucial. The Human Services Funding program helps to ensure those who need these services have access to them.

The Evaluation and Recommendation Process

In order to select the recipients of Human Services Funding, the Commission solicits and reviews applications from not for profit social service providers in the Fall, interviews organization leaders, and conducts site visits. It then recommends funding to the Township Board of Trustees in late winter. Organizations are notified in February if their application was approved. Funds are then distributed at the end of March which coincides with the end of the Township’s fiscal year.
