Accessibility Parking

The Township can issue three month temporary parking placards, once an application form is filled out by a physician. We also have applications for permanent parking placards which are issued from the Secretary of State’s office.

RTA Permits for Seniors & Those with Disabilities

You can apply at Northfield Township to receive the RTA free or reduced fare permits good for rides on Metra, CTA, and fixed Pace routes.

Who Can Apply?

Senior citizens (65 or older) and people with disabilities who are registered in the Illinois Circuit Breaker program are eligible for the free permit. Seniors 65 or older who are not registered in the Illinois Benefit Access program (formerly Circuit Breaker) are eligible for the reduced fare permit. For more information go to www.rtachicago.org. Applications are accepted beginning three weeks prior to the 65th birthday.

Required Documentation:

  1. A passport size photo ID (Northfield Township takes photos for a $15.00 fee.)
  2. A government-issued picture identification card that verifies your age (driver’s license, State of Illinois ID card, alien registration card or passport).

Allow up to six weeks from the application date to receive the RTA Card.

Voter Registration

Northfield Township provides voters’ registration service; appointments are not necessary.

To register to vote, you must be:

  1. A U.S. citizen
  2. At least 18 years old by Election Day
  3. A resident of your precinct at least 30 days prior to Election Day

You also must display two pieces of identification. Neither needs to be a photo ID, but one must include your current address.

Acceptable forms of ID include:

  1. Illinois driver’s license
  2. Illinois State ID
  3. Employee or student ID
  4. Credit card
  5. Social Security card
  6. Birth certificate
  7. Utility bill in applicant’s name
  8. Mail postmarked to the applicant
  9. Valid U.S. passport
  10. Public Aid ID card
  11. Lease or rental contract

Online Voter Registration

If you have an Illinois driver’s license or state ID you may register online through the Illinois State Board of Elections website.

Notary Service

The staff at the Northfield Township office is available to notarize documents free of charge during regular business hours. No appointment is necessary. Just be sure to bring valid photo identification along with the unsigned documents.

Coast2Coast Discount Prescription Drug Card

The Coast2Coast Rx card is a free prescription drug discount card that provides discounts on over 60,000 medications. Anyone can use the card regardless of age, income or medical history.

The Rx card may be used at all pharmacy chains and most independent pharmacies.

Cards are available in the township office. Residents can also print the Rx card, check their prescription’s prices and view the nearest participating locations at  www.coast2coastrx.com.
