Have questions about voting in the upcoming election?

The Cook County Clerk’s Office is a great place to start. You can check your registration status, request a mail ballot, find out your polling place for election day, and get information about early voting.

Election Day is November 8. Early voting takes place October 24 – November 7. Residents of Northfield Township can place an early vote at either the Northbrook or Glenview Village Halls.

On Election Day, you can only vote at your home precinct. The link above will help you find your polling location for Election Day.

If you need to register to vote, there are a number of ways you can do that. Using the link above, you can register until October 23. You can also register in person at early voting or on Election Day. On Election Day, you can only register at your home precinct.

The last day to request a mail ballot is November 3rd. Though, you should apply as early as possible to make sure you receive your ballot in time to vote. Your ballot must be postmarked no later than Election Day and received at the Cook County Clerk’s office within 14 days after Election Day.

Northfield Township also provides voters’ registration services; appointments are not necessary.

To register to vote, you must be:

  1. A U.S. citizen
  2. At least 18 years old by Election Day
  3. A resident of your precinct at least 30 days prior to Election Day

You also must display two pieces of identification. Neither needs to be a photo ID, but one must include your current address.

Acceptable forms of ID include:

  1. Illinois driver’s license
  2. Illinois State ID
  3. Employee or student ID
  4. Credit card
  5. Social Security card
  6. Birth certificate
  7. Utility bill in applicant’s name
  8. Mail postmarked to the applicant
  9. Valid U.S. passport
  10. Public Aid ID card
  11. Lease or rental contract
